 Wander gently into the picturesque Lakeland village of Hawkshead, on the quieter western shore of Lake Windermere, (and you can wander because the centre is blissfully traffic-free) and one of the first welcoming sights to greet you is Poppi Red _ a fantastic display of pink and scarlet among the whitewashed cottages, slate roofs and cobbled streets of the village. Poppi Red offers a wonderfully, old fashioned shopping experience, with cheery staff all from the village, service as it used to be and a beautifully laid out shop. To some it's a little bit of New England, to others it has a shabby chic Frenchness. |

| We were born and bred in the Lakes a place of stunning natural beauty and wonderful people, a place where you have to get outside to fully appreciate all that life has to offer. It’s this heritage that has informed our business. We started as a family business in June 1976 selling waterproofs - the hottest driest summer on record! We weathered the storm (or more accurately, the drought) and learnt our first valuable lesson, you can always rely on the British weather to be unreliable (one way or another). In the early 1980’s a pair of geese nested amidst the shoes in our warehouse, which meant anyone with size 7 feet had to wait until three goslings had safely hatched before they got their order. We have always tried to be independent, a b  it different and most of all honest about who and what we are, just like you. Now we intend to get back to doing things our way. |
